The Nerdery - Overnight Website Challenge

Minneapolis 2013,

Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue of MN

Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue of MN (W&W) is a volunteer run 501(c)(3), non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless animals from euthanasia and educating the community on responsible pet ownership and the value of a saved life. W&W acquires animals into rescue through many different situations, such as breeder release & puppy mill surrenders, hoarding situations, owner surrender, high kill shelters, and local impounds. The rescue takes a wide variety of animals; often those others will not including seniors, animals with anxiety and emotional problems, shy/fearful animals, animals from abuse situations, and animals needing expensive surgeries and/or long recovery times. W&W does not have an independent facility; instead our animals are loved in foster homes (or occasionally with boarding partners) while they wait to find their forever home. Through our foster system, our organization comes to know the dogs and cats' personalities’ to match them to an appropriate and loving home.

What new functionality we are looking for

We would like the website to be able to display a searchable photo-database of our available animals according to type (dog/cat, etc…), name, etc… and possibly have the ability to update the other sites we work with to promote adoptions. As a foster-based rescue, communication is paramount to our organizations’ ability to support itself internally in terms of Q&A, information sharing, and pleas for help. As such, a Log-In based community board would be beneficial as a non-Facebook place for our fosters to communicate, as well as provide the basis for an information gathering system which could organize people’s name/ address/phone/e-mail in a way which would allow for simplified mass-communication. The end goal is to use the website as the main source of information for Volunteers, Fosters, Community Partners, and adoptive homes.

Currently Facebook is our most efficient means of communication although we would like to start using FB as a teaser to re-direct to the website. We also use a number of different forms for foster applications, adoption applications and home visits, forms that are filled out online and submitted electronically. Seamlessly integrating paypal or a donation page that can be customized would be an asset to our organization. Other relevant pages may be a Donation forum, Mission page, Events Calendar, Success Stories page, Friends&Partners (other rescues and organizations who’ve donated), Volunteer of the Month, Contacts, etc, basically places to feature the people who make us what we are. Additionally we produce an annual calendar (printed) and would love to be able to have a purchase area for these.

Having a website that a volunteer can manage is ideal. The content we display may change often (animals, events, volunteer needs, etc.) so having a professional looking layout that can still be edited would be a dream.

How the new functionality will help

W&W is unique in that the people involved in the organization are wholly devoted to rescuing animals. Our small organization has grown over the past few years into an entity which now demands larger scale expertise to continue attracting new interest. Unfortunately we are not the most tech-savvy bunch and currently maintain a 1990’s-looking-website which makes our organization appear second-rate compared with many larger rescues’ modern websites. A new, clean, easy to read and navigate website with updated type-face, defined graphic style, and unique site-map would give a more organized, thoughtful, and professional look to what the organization is. In order to operate the rescue we need donations and currently struggle with this aspect the most as we attempt to survive on adoption fees and fundraisers alone. With a new website, our hope is to show the legitimacy of W&W in a world where quality of website is directly related to perceived quality of an organization. We also always need volunteers for different things, and it would be great to have a place on the internet people were proud of and happy to share with their friends, a place to send volunteer prospects and influence them to want to help our rescue.

I got my cat from Wags and absolutely love her. They described her temprament perfectly and are a great example of a hard working rescue. They have tons of animals that they rescue that are still needing homes and fosters so a new updated website that is easily accessible for people looking for new pets is a must have for this organization! Please select them!

Wags and Whiskers is an amazing local shelter that deserves a new website! They work hard to find pets their forever homes, and host a variety of great events.

I have had the joy of working with this group of rescue folks for just over a year. I can tell you after years of working in the vet field and being married to a vet...this group does it right!
They take all breeds, all challenges...and saves lives every day
The more exposure we get, the more we can save!!

They deserve to win because they are self-less in what they do for animals! They save so many lives, and a better website would help them to achieve this even more so!

We adopted a puppy from Wags & Whiskers in March of 2012. At the time we wanted to adopt from a rescue but didn't understand the difference in the organizations and didn't have a preference. We are so lucky our puppy was with Wags! She had gotten sick and had some stomach issues when we adopted her. Wags & Whiskers provided all follow up vet care, special food and medication to get her where she needed to be. They also checked in frequently to make sure she was doing well. Our puppy along with a number of other siblings were pulled from Minneapolis Animal Control at a very young age and the Director of Wags bottle fed them around the clock so that they would not only survive, but thrive. The puppies were raised in a foster home with other animals, kids, and lots of attention. She has been the most well behaved socialized dog because of this. We are forever grateful for the wonderful care this organization provided to our puppy before and after her adoption. They deserve all good things!

I am a volunteer for Wags & Whiskers, and it is an awesome organization that goes beyond the call of duty in trying to save the lives of animals. The people in the organization put in an amazing amount of time and effort to run the organization effectively and efficiently, and saving as many animals as they can from being euthanized. The added features to the website would make it possible for them to do even more, and will give YOU the chance to make a difference in the lives of animals to. Thank you for considering our organization!

Wags & Whiskers is an amazing local animal rescue that deserves to have an amazing website to showcase all thier adoptable animals. A dynamic website would be a great step in thier goal of saving the lives of animals and placing them with 'Furever' families.

I am a foster mom for one of their pups, and she needs to be networked! The website would be such a great help with updating everyone on the animals they have available for adoption. They helped cover the cost of a surgery for my foster, they are ready and willing to place her in the prefect home. I work with many other rescues and I think that Wags is the most stable and more deserving of this opportunity. Please help them out, if you do the hopefully more animals will find their 'fur-ever' home. And that is the goal. So them love, care, kindness and a family.

I started fostering/volunteering for Wags last summer, and it has been an amazing experience thus far and I believe it will continue to be! Wags takes in hard cases and they do their best to save all the animals they can, even pigs! :) The group of people who volunteer for Wags are amazing and work as hard as they can!!!

Wags and Whiskers deserves a new website makeover because it will free up their time and money to focus on saving animals and finding responsible forever homes, while you do what you do best- update their website so they can get more fosters, more donations, more awareness, more adopters, etc.. By doing what you do best, you'll help Wags and Whiskers do what THEY so best- win-win!!'

I volunteer with Wags and they are the coolest. They do so much for the animals and I love working with them. I think it's really impressive how they've been able to recruit dedicated volunteers and sustain their foster network. A new website would help them find more volunteers and more importantly homes for the animals as so many people turn to online resources to conduct business and research.

Wags & Whiskers provides an amazing service to animals without homes. Having a new website will enable them to attract more attention and do more to save these animals! Please honor them with a new site that they so desperately deserve!

We recently adopted a puppy from Wags about a month ago. They are awesome to work with and are very timely with questions and concerns that you have with your adoption process. They have also been extremely helpful with us after our adoption as well! It would be a great opportunity for this organization to be able to get a new web design to contiune to help with their great cause! They do so much that most people dont even realize. They truely save such great animals and I am honored to be able to call one my own!

Wags is amazing! They deserve this because they have given of themselves, their time and money for these animals. They have made so many people and animals happy. I have been fostering with them for a year or so now and they are great to work with and they do not have the pleasure of a 9-5 job. They work non-stop!

Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue of Minnesota is committed to saving the lives of nearly any companion animal (dogs, cats, rabbits, and even pot belly pigs) in need... no matter what! When faced with a difficult situation or homeless animal, Wags´ volunteers and fosters step up to the challenge with their compassionate and willing hearts to help in any way possible. I have been a Wags volunteer/foster for several years now, so I can personally attest to all the hard work we have all done together for the benefit of the animals. We aim to target what is most important to everyone involved and pride ourselves in being able to match our adoptable pets to their ideal homes. With a snazzy new website, Wags will be able to attract more families looking for their perfect dog or cat (or rabbit for that matter). Please consider helping our wonderful Wags & Whiskers animal rescue group continue to save more critters! Thank you!!

In a day filled with paperwork and phone calls, I can count on at least one heartwarming post from Wags letting me know that another life has been saved. Seriously, how many of us have jobs where we're saving lives? This is an organization that does. It needs to have a site that is attractive, clearly communicated, and features the animals in their best light, skyrocketing the chance that these hardluck cats and dogs get a second chance at life.

This is an organization that knows how to work hard and work smart. The people that make this organization as effective as it is deserve this hand up. Wags runs its mission with dedicated volunteers--no paid staff. I'm proud of the work they do, and so thankful they rescued our dog and found him a warm place in our home.

Any help you can give to Wags specifically and animal rescue specifically will help fulfill a promise we've made to domestic dogs and cats over the millennia. We took them in thousands of years ago and caused them to evolve into our most loving companions. They have no homes unless they live in ours. We owe all domestic cats and dogs lives filled with love, care, and respect. Anything we can do to make that happen for 100 percent of them should be done.

It isn't often when humanity surprises you in a good way. Time and again I am shocked by the amazing selfless people that make up this organization. They give up their time, their sleep and their space to save animals. And when someone needs or wants more of them, they somehow find a way to give even more. They are honest and hard working with little recognition. These people live all over the state but have found a way to make a community of strangers fighting for the same cause. Wags & Whiskers is only limited by its funding and marketing, they have enough heart to save every animal in the world. Please give them the chance to save them all because with this group, you never know, they may find a way to do it!

I have driven several rescue transports for Wags and Whiskers and they do a fantastic job of helping animals in need. They are one of the great MN rescue groups and I would put my full support behind them to have their site redesigned.

Our dog was rescued by Wags from a terrible situation in GA- abuse, heartworm, extreme muscle atrophy, fleas, being starved prior to being euthanized- to no fault of his own, he is the perfect dog. He was saved by Wags 20 min before he was scheduled to be killed, and thanks to them, he can finally live the life he was meant to, that all animals should. Not in fear, but to feel loved and appreciated. Wags is the best, please help them help more animals experience a life they've never known!

As a foster mamma with Wags, I hold them near & dear to my heart!!!! I work as an IT recruiter & use LinkedIn as a means to help get the word out about my fosters up for adoption or any other animals needing a home. They could definitely use a fun & friendly website to help promote their animals & their organization which is all, 100% VOLUNTEER based. Please Nerdery, consider helping them out & if not for them, do it for all the animals who depend on them!!!! You guys are awesome at what you do (development!) & wags is aweseome at what they do (saving animals!) so together you guys can dominate the world & bring the power of IT and saving furry lives together!!!!

I'm one of few men that PROUDLY foster with this group( thanks to my wife who helps a ton), I have met a lot a really kind hearted people because of Wags and the families that have adopted from us. Reguardless if this website is approved for us we will continue to follow our hearts and save these animals no matter what. I feel we volunteer not for ourselfs but for those who need us!!!! Bottom line for me is at the end of the day I can say I've helped save another LIFE and that's beyond rewarding, but I couldn't do it without this group of people and the networking it takes to make it happen. Love my Wags family.

In all my years of being a dog lover, I have found Wags and Whiskers to be the best of the best. Wags and Whiskers has the most lovable dogs that I have ever met. But the greatest thing about this rescue group is that they are available for the dogs who have not had an easy life These dogs are the ones that are hurt, unwanted, or in bad situations that humans have placed them. THESE ARE THE DOGS AND CATS THAT HAVE BEEN FAILED BY HUMANS AND MUST BE SAVED. WE OWE THEM A FOREVER HOME.

Volunteers run Wags and Whiskers not a paid staff, and these volunteers are animal lovers. The volunteers are carving for the animals 24/7, with the animal getting their time and energy. They are not WEBMASTERS, but that is what they need. They need a magic team of experts who can give them an interactive site to tell their story so that more needy animals can find their forever home. Please help them you will helping the animals that need our help the most. This is just a way to pay it forward and know that everything you do is saving the life of puppys, kittens, senior dogs, blind, deaf or injured animals that only want a place to be loved.

I am the cat coordinator and foster for Wags. We are a group of hard working fun loving animal lovers. We deserve your help with a website because in 2012 we adopted out close to 500 dogs and almost 160 cats (as well as a gerbil, 3 bunnies and a pot belly pig!) Many of these pets were down and out and in need of an advocate. We would LOVE your help with a new site to show case all our beautiful animals needing homes!

Please choose this wonderful organization! They are amazing and a truly caring group of people. We adopted our puppy from them a year ago and was so pleased with all the info we got on her and how well she taken care of by her fosters. After we adopted her they went out their way to make sure I got pictures of her and her Mom and siblings to keep. I got more information on my puppy then we got from from the county when we adopted our Daughter. I see everyday the postings on Facebook trying to fight for these special animals at finding homes and transports and anything else they need. I truly admire all of them for what they do!

Wags is a great rescue that has save many, many animals from being put down. They have great fosters who really care for, train and love these animals like they were their own...only to give them away. It's not easy to do, give away a friend after all the hard work you've done. But when they see the smiles on their new families faces, they know they've made a difference and makes their sacrifices worth every minute. Please help them design Wags a great new website so they can help even more animals find their furever homes. THANK YOU

I adopted my best friend from Wags & Whiskers last year, and she has absolutely changed my life. The people at Wags care so much about their animals and did an amazing job checking the home and making sure not only that we were willing and given the know-how and support to raise our pup, but that the home was SAFE and the animal would be well taken care of. Wags is devoted not only to getting homes, but getting safe and loving homes, and I think that sets them apart. They ABSOLUTELY deserve to have a website update through the Overnight challenge!!

I have been a part of Wags & Whiskers in various capacities for almost 3 years now and am still constantly amazed by the devotion and care that the organization has for, not only dogs and cats, but rabbits, pigs and pretty any small animal that needs rescue! My own dog is from Wags and he's the best thing that has ever happened to my life. My dog's best friend is the first dog we ever fostered with Wags. Please help this organization continue their AMAZING and DEDICATED work with a new website. I did a brief stint volunteering to update the adoptable animal photos on the website and while it wasn't that difficult - the website could have been MUCH better. It would be so fantastic for Wags to get a new website - And what's better than good karma coming back to you in the form of puppy kisses???

I am a volunteer for wags and whiskers and have done a variety of things to help with the organization. One of the great things about them is they can take any skill you have and find a way for you to help the rescue in some way. The various volunteers and fosters are what make this organization. It is always about the animals first and nothing else. They can take a 9 year old puppy mill dog, groom him, provide dental care, teach him how to be loved and live an a home. You wouldn't think a family with 2 young children would choose a senior puppy mill dog, but they do, because Wags has been able to educate people and show the public that these dogs also deserve good homes. This is an amazing organization with a lot to offer but they really need a new website. Please help them save animals and spread the word!

Wags & Whiskers would be a great choice of rescues to support. The oganization is very credible, reliable, operates with a high degree of integrity and most importantly has the passion and love to do the right thing for the animals they take in. The animals they save from high-kill shelters often have no other option and would end up euthanized if not for them. Though small, they have a strong team of dedicated volunteers to help support the animals from rescue through adoption and beyond. In addition they provide coaching and training to the members within it's community. I am a volunteer, foster and utilize my own animal-related company to help them with fundraising and building awareness in the community. So, not only do I have experience first hand with this rescue, but I endorse them through my company. With the great reputation they maintain, I am honored to participate on both a personal and professional level with this organization. I know you would feel the same, given a chance like this to share in the experience. *Pick Wags*

This is by far a no brainer! This group comes to the rescue so often and frequently, all of their VOLUNTEERS are dedicated and loving. They cry when a sick puppy comes in, they cry when one crosses the rainbo bridge and they love every single one of them unconditionally. I am not a volunteer nor do I work for them. I have donated to them many times and will continue to do so because HANDS AND PAWS DOWN they have my vote!!!!

Wags & Whiskers is a lot of wonderful things, but one thing I know for sure is that it's volunteers are what makes it possible. They do all they can by all the means they can. Pouring out their hearts, homes and wallets to many animals that have nothing else and noone else. Their hearts are madeof gold!!! Getting a new website could enable them to continue doing just that!! Thank you for selecting them.

Wags and whiskers is a fantastic organization run by an incredible collection of dedicated volunteers. I have had several foster dogs at my home and have worked closely with the wags and whiskers volunteers. They know and care about animals. Through their foster and rescue efforts hundreds of animals are matched with caring owners who provide loving homes for the dogs, cats, bunnies, birds , and even pigs who would have otherwise been euthanized.

BUT....these volunteers are not website designers. Their website is awful and does not allow a prospective forever homeowner to easily and effectively find that one special pet. This organization needs your help. And there is no money to pay someone to do the website. The organization has little money and what they have goes for medical care for the animals.

I firmly believe that with a "first class" professional website the number of adoptions will increase and the lives of so many wonderful animals will be saved.

Wags and Whiskers is a rescue that goes above and beyond for it's animals from making sure that they are properly vetted and healthy to matching them with their homes. I have 2 Wags kids and couldn't be happier! Both my guys had some serious issues when they arrived at Wags, but through their love and caring developed into great little guys. We couldn't be happier with our Wags kids and think it would be great if they were able to reach more people, more effectively with a fabulous new website!

From what I have seen on Wags and Whisker's Facebook page, they seem like an amazing animal rescue. Having a new new site will do wonders for this non-profit. A strong website is a necessity in the world now days. If prospective adoptive families can navigate the website better and WandW can deliver their information in a beautiful website, more dogs, cats, rabits and other animals will find their perfect forever home!

Casey (the brave one!)

Dear Nerdery,

My story until recently was not a happy one... I am only a few months old, and yet have met many unkind people who don't know how to take care of pups like me during my short life. I was left out in the freezing cold to fend for myself, and found my way to someone's house. They chased me away, and in sheer desperation I hid away from them, wondering if this was the way things were supposed to be. After some time had passed, and I was terribly cold and hungry, a friendly lady noticed me and asked whether someone knew where I came from. "I don't know," the horrible-man-that-shouts-at-puppies said, "but if someone doesn't get rid of him, I am going to shoot him!" By now I was SO terrified, and wondering what was to happen to me...

Fortunately the kind lady realized that I was in a desperate situation, and took me to the local vet. The people there warmed me up, and gave me some food, but I knew that this was only a temporary solution to my problems. But then something really wonderful happened! "Contact Wags," the vet said. "They will know what to do with this little guy", and he was right!

Someone came to fetch me and kept me at their home overnight. The following morning they drove all the way from Wisconsin to Richfield, Minnesota, where I was picked up by a very sweet lady who just sat and held me for a L-O-N-G time until I stopped shivering from fear. Then she took me to her home where she held me in her arms, kissed me and said, "We're going to call you Casey. That is an old Irish name that means 'brave' because indeed you are a brave little fellow." And wouldn't you know, she was right! Every day I feel a little braver than the day before, and one day, when I am a big dog, I will be a very brave dog indeed.

So, Nerdery, if you're wondering why I told you my story, it is because I want you to know what caring and wonderful people volunteer for Wags, and how much they do to save pups like me. A good interactive website will help them to better help pups like me find good "fur-ever" homes, and wouldn't you know, that would make my tale a happy tail! Thank you for choosing Wags - they are the best.

With love and licks,
Casey

I am a volunteer that fosters for wags. They need a website that is reliable, more easily maintained and more navigable than the one they currently have. Rescues like Wags put all their time and attention into their animals, which is where it should go, and while a website in this day and age isn't 'fluff', it shouldn't be something that hinders their success or is a burden to maintain for them, or use for prospective adopters. It would be great if technology could serve them and their animals better than it currently is.

Wags an whiskers is filled with so many great individuals with enormous hearts. So many of these people donate not just their time and money but their homes to all kinds of animals in need. Dogs, cats, rabbits, and even pigs have been saved by the amazing team of volunteers but they are currently greatly limited by their web presence. The current web site makes it difficult for perspective adopters to locate animals they may want to adopt. In this day and age a good web presence is essential and a better designed and more professional website would make it much easier to help more animals find their forever homes.

Wags is a group of people with large hearts who volunteer their time, swet and tears for the Amina's that need them. They are a volunteer group that opens their hearts and homes to love and care for animals that need them and help them find forever homes.

This group is extremely deserving of a new web design the would best represent the great work they do.

Wags and Whiskers is a group of volunteers that devote their time, money, hearts, and homes to helping animals in need. Many of the volunteers are stretched to their limits by the demands of rescue work. In addition to working full time jobs, and having a family and home to take care of, our volunteers take time to love their foster animals while patiently and kindly teaching them how to be a good pet. In addition to fostering animals, many volunteers have taken on additional roles such as event coordinator, training coordinator, and foster coordinator. Wags and Whiskers does not turn their back on animals need, thrown out by cruel people, mistreated and abused, we take them all and love and rehabilitate them.
We need a new website to help us network and promote our rescue and adoptable animals. We need a website that will help us to be more efficient so that our volunteers can focus on saving more lives. If we are given this opportunity it will open a new door for our rescue.

We got our AMAZING dog, Sophie, from Wags. She has changed our lives! Wags took care of her until we found her, and we will be forever grateful. Go Wags!!

I am a foster mom to cats and dogs, the Training Coordinator, and part of the Bully Breed Coordinator Team. I cannot say enough good things about Wags and Whiskers and the opportunities that they provide for fosters, volunteers, and most importantly the animals that they save. This rescue is based on love, compassion, and generosity. The loving and generous nature starts with our fearless leaders Roanna and Tymber and it trickles down through the entire rescue. I am proud to be a part of this rescue and all of the good things that we do.

I adopted Lucy (formerly Madison) from Wags and Whiskers almost 4 years ago. Her history before her rescue from an animal shelter was unknown. She was extremely shy and reserved. While she is still frightened of strangers, she has blossomed from hiding under the bed to running to the door to see "who's here". She is one of the love's of my life. Wags and Whishers has done so much to place my Lucy and so many others in the right home and the right environment. They take time to make sure the match is appropriate for all involved. Love them and recommend them to anyone looking for a pet.

Please pick Wags and Whiskers! I have always been an animal lover! Last year Lisa my friend from work told me about Wags and ever since that conversation with her, I started to foster and rescue dogs through Wags! It's been a year now, I have fostered and loved 9 different dogs and found them their forever homes! Yes I was a foster failure with my second one , and she was Probally the hardest one, Heidi was 4 years old and came from a puppy mill! But know she is loving life being a dog and a foster mama herself! But this just tells you, Wags rescues senior dogs, puppy mill dogs, puppies, cats, rabbits and even pot belly pugs! It has been a very awsome year knowing I saved and loved these dogs! Every volunteer with Wags has a big heart and loves all these animals ! We just want them to find there loving forever homes! Roanna, Tymber, and Gerri are the best! These ladies are always there, willing to help and Answere questions! They are the reason Wags is the best!!! So please pick wags, the more people know about them the better!!!!!!! All our hearts go out to the animals that need rescue! Way to go Wags! It's been a great year! Many more to come!

I have been with Wags since May of 2010. I started fostering because I wanted to help dogs. I ended up adopting my 8th dog because she made her way into my heart and we both knew we knew we needed eachother. See, Wags helps whatever we can if we have the foster home and means to. We don't take the "most adoptable". We will take that poor puppy mill momma that has never felt a kind hand touch her head, the old senior dog on its very last day, or the poor young pup because its owners can't afford its $3000 leg surgery. We will try to help any breed, any cat, dog, and even pig. I'll be the first one to admit, we don't have the IT expertise on our team. If we could have a new website, it would help us so much. To free up our time in "working" on it, to get more animals noticed and adopted, and to have a more user friendly site. We are all volunteers. We love what we do. Our fosters animals love us because of what we do. Thank you for considering Wags & Whiskers.

It is rare to find a group of people that inspire you to be better every day. I have learned so many lessons from this organization about selflessness, compassion, determination, advocacy, patience, forgiveness, and hope. I have been taught that a little goes a long way and how to make time for the things that bring you joy. This group of seemingly strangers, scattered throughout the cities, has a unique bond that I don't believe can be easily replicated. The passion is contagious, the support is uplifting, and the humor brightens a day. This organization and these people do more than just save animals, they make our community a better place. Please recognize their efforts and help Wags & Whiskers get a new website.

As they say, volunteer's are like gold. This wonderful group of people open their home's up every year to hundred's of animal's who need that second chance. They even rescue animal's from our local dog pound. For all these animal' it the difference between l areife and death. My friend and her husband are fostering their 9th dog for Wag's in a year with them. This show's what a huge impact these volunteer's make for these animal's that would otherwise have no chance. Wag's is one of the best rescue's out there .

I got my dog from this organization a year ago. They took such great care of him until I have him a furever home. The lengths that they go to make this process worth while. They check out your living situation and make sure are a good candidate for adoption. They deserve this website because they work hard to place animals in loving homes. PICK WAGS!!

Wags was amazing while we were looking for our cat. They really go out of their way to find the right person for each animal. I've never seen an organization that gives more exposure to the animals in their care, and their rigorous adoption process really shows that they're committed to finding the perfect adopter. They're a pleasure to work with and you can absolutely feel their passion for their work through your interactions with them.

Every day you turn on the news or go online and you hear nothing but bad news. I love Wags & Whiskers because the rescue and its volunteers restore my faith in humanity every day. This wonderful group of people work together to save homeless animals who would otherwise meet a very different fate. Volunteering for Wags is one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done. A new website could help make Wags more successful by allowing us greater outreach and visibility for our animals looking for their forever homes. Please consider Wags for the new website.

I've been with Wags & Whiskers for three years now, and you could not find a more dedicated group of people. The time and effort they put into caring for, rehabilitating, and caring for the animals that come through this organization is amazing. A new site would mean the world to us, and help with saving more lives. They deserve this opportunity because of everything they do, with so little go on.

After adopting our first dog, Jude, from W&W in 2008 we decided to start fostering for them. We had been fostering for several years through other rescues and had gotten frustrated with the lack of communication and enthusiasm for rescue and were so pleased to find that Wags is different! We have never had to ask twice about anything and have always felt supported. Not only that, but we're saving lives! We have had many fosters with Wags, and they are in forever homes today because of Wags' hard work. We cannot imagine a better and more compassionate group of people to work with and are so excited for this opportunity. Please help Wags help animals!

Wags is by far the best rescue group I have encountered. They are very concerned about each and every pet they get ready to be adopted, giving so much time to each and every concern the pet should have to make ready for that big day of getting their forever family. They are right there when you need help with any questions you have, their networking amongst the fosters are way beyond words. They are very focused in their goals of each and every animal needing that loving family. I could never have worked with a better group of the great supporters they are. They deserve a website as this, just because they are so dedicated and work so compassionately at what they do..my hats off to them! Help Wags & Whiskers continue to save many loving pets lives.

I just recently started fostering dogs through Wags & Whiskers and it is the most rewarding experience I have ever had. The amount of work and determination every single foster and volunteer is phenomenal. As someone who fosters, I have seen some of the "behind the scene" action of the volunteers and it amazes me. The way we all jump into action over any animal (dog, cat, rabbit, PIG, you name it) who needs our help! The compassion of these people pulls at my heart strings! I LOVE WAGS!!

We found our new cat through Wags and Whiskers. They do a great job rescuing animals (our cat was a stray Wags fostered until we found her) and foster them until they find their forever home. We needed a cat that would do well with small kids and other cats and Wags provides all the info to find the perfect addition to your family! They do deserve a new website to help all the animals find their new homes.

Wags & Whiskers is an awesome nonprofit. I have my beautiful black kitty because of them - my previous black kitty died in a fire that took absolutely everything I owned. I cry every day for him, but Wags & Whiskers waived my adoption fee for my new precious black kitty. What wonderful people. They not only save animals, they save people, too.

Our Mission

W&W’s mission is to provide a safe haven for domestic animals of all kinds through a devoted community network dedicated to re-educating the public as to the value of a rescue animal’s life. Our mission is to stop the need for rescue organizations, but until we are able to do that, the need is to share what rescues do and who they are so that people are aware that rescue dogs, cats, bunnies and pigs are all wonderful animals. Rescue ≠ Damaged!
